Grammarly is one of the most useful browser plugins you’ll ever download!
It is an essential tool for writers, no matter how skilled. The tool checks your writing on all websites for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and more, using artificial intelligence algorithms based on natural language processing - yeah, pretty fancy. You might not have time to edit your writing as much as you’d like to, and Grammarly can save you hours on silly mistakes you would have missed anyway.
At its core, Grammarly flags grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors, helping you with small mistakes you may have missed. It can also detect inconsistencies in your writing, making sure you’re using the same spelling and punctuation throughout a document.
The best skills a writer can have is writing concisely and writing something that can be understood easily. Grammarly makes suggestions on how to make sentences less wordy. Get to the point faster! It also analyzes sentences that use too complex of words, or words that are too long, and suggests you make them simpler. Even if you’re writing for adults, you usually shouldn’t write like a college professor.
You want your writing to engage with your readers, inspire them, and make them act on your suggestions. Grammarly suggests more interesting-to-read words (like suggesting “thrilled” instead of “very happy”) and warns you about a lack of sentence variety. Few things are as boring as reading three sentences in a row that have the same length and cadence.
Make sure your message sounds the way you want it to, with Grammarly’s tone detection tool. It analyses your document and tells you what it sounds like, as well as offering suggestions to make your writing more confident and polite (great for when you’re considering sending an emotional email to your boss!).
Grammarly also checks for plagiarism, just to be safe!
The tool is available for free if all you need is the basic features, but they offer a fully-packed Premium plan for as low as $11.66 per month (if billed annually).
At Grivio, we use Grammarly because we’re always adding new helpful content, blog posts, and affiliate programs to our list. When we’re working on getting that much information out to you, we’re bound to make a few small mistakes here and there. Grammarly helps us when “its” and “it’s” get confused, or when we use a few too many commas. It’s also really useful for our blog, in making sure that we use concise and engaging sentences.
